CoverGirl x StarWars: Swatches & reviews

Hi all and welcome back to my blog! Today I will show you swatches & reviews from the StarWars collection by Covergirl.

Not sure why but in Australia, only the mascara and 4 lipstick colors were available from this collection. However, there are 2 more lipstick colors available in the collection (which I really liked btw) and you can get them on eBay.

Covergirl has released more StarWars makeup products, such as nailpolish and more, in limited edition packaging. The images below are from the Covergirl Instagram account.

Unfortunately these are not available in Australia (oh but I so wish they were!).

I got 2 lipsticks in shades: 30 and 70, and the ‘super sizer by lashblast’ mascara.
First impression is love at first sight. To be honest, I’m not the biggest StarWars fan but I did like the movies I’ve seen so far. I loved the recent one, thought it was great and full of fun & action! I did buy the makeup before watching the movie though, I simply couldn’t resist!
The packaging is lovely, simple and black with the famous StarWars logo in shiny silver.
The mascara is the best as it comes with different StarWars quotes on it. Love!

The ‘Super sizer’ mascara comes with 10 different quotes. I got “I will finish what you started” (6/10) from the ‘Dark side’ collection. I didn’t even realise there was a dark side/good side but I’m glad I landed on the dark side one! Haha!
When I opened it at first, I was a bit disappointed to find such a simple, plain mascara brush. I normally don’t like the rubber ones and try to avoid using them. I was quite shocked to find such a thin and small brush and I was very sceptic of what it could do to my lashes.
But let me tell you, I was taken by surprise because when I applied it once, twice and more, I was amazed to discover it really works! It lengthens & thickens the lashes, makes them longer and more noticeable. It’s a true black mascara which I love and it really brings the lashes out. I was actually extremely surprised with the results.

After applying

Left lashes with mascara, right lashes without

You can clearly see the difference between the lashes with and without mascara.
So how did it go?
It didn’t smudge, it applied nicely without sticking, and separated the lashes nicely. It can be used for the bottom lashes as well because of the thin brush, however, it will lengthen them significantly.
Next are the lipsticks. I got these two colors because I felt they were more wearable. The other 2 colors were gold-orange and silver and I knew they are definitely NOT my colors (too Sci-fi for me). So I went with the red and nude (more practical colors).
The red #30 is a beautiful deep-slightly dark, frost red with lots of shimmer. It applies nicely and easily without smudging but it doesn’t have that creamy texture that I love in a lipstick. I wore it for the day, It didn’t ‘bleed’ but it didn’t last long on the lips. Probably an hour or two before it started to wear off.
Overall I loved the color and I will definitely use it again.
Next is #70 lipstick. It’s frost dark nude, yellow toned and very shimmery. I would describe this color as ‘rose gold nude’. It has the same texture as the red lipstick and it doesn’t last as long on the lips either. It is a very beautiful color though and can be used day or night.
How gorgeous!
Overall I am very pleased with my StarWars makeup picks and I cannot wait to use them!
This collection was available in Priceline, Coles and Target amongst other stores but unfortunately by now, it is sold out. I have seen the mascara still available in Priceline lately but gotta be quick! – it’s the last few left! Otherwise try online or eBay but expect to pay a lot more.
