August beauty favourites

Hi lovelies and welcome back to my blog! In this post I’ll share some of my favourite beauty products with you.

Even though August is almost over and it is freezing cold here in Melbourne, I’d like to share some of my favourite products that can be used not only during winter, but all year round!

Colourpop

If you haven’t heard of colourpop yet then it is about time! This amazing brand sells amazing quality makeup for super reasonable low prices. I got heaps of their stuff which I absolutely adore but here I’ll tell you about only a few of them:

Wisp highlighter

I read many great reviews about this highlighter before buying it and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint! Not one bit. It’s described as ‘Golden champagne with highly reflective hues of gold duo chrome finishes’. It is the softest shade of gold with tons of shimmer that really brings out that ‘goddess glow’ to your face.

The texture, like all colourpop highlighters and eyeshadows, is creamy-powder like with intense pigment, colour and shine. It is really a must have in order to get that healthy golden glow to your skin. This is my goto highlighter in summer after tanning but the glow is necessary during winter as well!
Prance gel creme liner

I’m absolutely in love with this colour! It’s a true bright periwinkle blue and the texture is amazing. It’s a gel with creamy texture, although it tends to dry fast so make sure you work quickly. It applies really smoothly & easily on the eyelid and provides full opaque colour coverage (a couple of coats will give the best results!). I love using it as a wing liner and the best thing is that it lasts throughout the whole day and it won’t budge! However, you must make sure that when you finish using it, or even while still applying, that you close the lid tight (or turn it upside down while still using) so it won’t dry.

Ellarie lippie pencil

Another great budget beauty buy and an August favorite, is the Colourpop lippie pencil. You can get it in many different colours and use it as coloured lip liner or as a lipstick on its own. This one is so creamy, easy to apply and long long lasting. The colour is so gorgeous: described as ‘blackened violet’ but appears more like dark burgundy-purple on my lips. A must have shade for a fall/winter look. This is a dupe for MAC’s nightmoth pencil for a fraction of the price too! Unlike some lip pencils this one isn’t drying at all. I highly recommend!

Kylie Cosmetics

Like gloss

This golss is the best lip gloss I own by far. The formula is great, creamy not too sticky, and I love how thick it is and that it gives my lips a nice full colour coverage. I can even go outside my lip line with its fine tip brush to make my lips look fuller and plumpier. It is just perfect! The brush applicator is amazing, better than your typical lip gloss applicator. Just like a makeup lip brush, it helps with a more precise application and its easier to use too. The colour is the best: Dolce de leche colour that makes your lips oh so delicious looking!

My make up brush set

High Technique brush set

These brushes are the softest I’ve ever touched! Using them is like caressing your skin with silk. The design is very smart, I love the metallic look and shades (rose gold is trending at the moment and is my fav!). The quality is amazing and I get the perfect makeup look using these. I especially love the angled eyeliner brush. It is firm & short enough to create the perfect wing line and flick!
This brush set* retails for 15.99$US (what a steal!) and it’s a dupe for Real Techniques Metallic edition brushes that cost alot more per brush.
The set includes powder, cheek, foundation, contour, eyeshadow & eyeliner brushes. I highly recommend!

Smashbox

Step-by-step contour sticks

I must admit at the beginning I was quite intimidated by contouring. Especially cream contouring. And it took me a while until I had the guts to use these. But let me tell you the first time I tried them I fell in love! They are the creamiest, and the easiest to blend, they just melt on to your skin effortlessly. There are 3 matte colours: contour (grey taupe), bronze (warm brown) and highlight (ivory cream) and they are all just perfect shades for most skin tones (for me it’s perfect). The sticks are super easy to use and they come as a kit in a box together with a custom size sharpener and an instruction guide. The guide will show you exactly how to contour your face according to your face shape. I like drawing lines or strokes where needed, and then blending them gently with a beauty blender for perfect airbrushed results.

Nars

Orgasm blush

This blush is a perfect pink coral shade with golden shimmer and a sheen finish. It is known as a universally flattering shade and it’s perfect for that pop of colour on your cheeks with a hint of glow and shimmer. This would be my goto blush in summer but I love using it all year round!

Loreal

Mega volume miss manga mascara

This mascara is great and different than your average mascara due to its bendable wond & flexibility. It ‘moves’ along with you as you apply it on your lashes and therefore gives you amazing results with minimum smudging or staining. I love using this on my lower lashes the most because it doesn’t stain underneath at all! It creates bolder & longer lashes and its perfect if you’re going for that big eyed doll look. This mascara is true black and isn’t water proof.
Available at most drugstores & department stores
